There are 7 principles of Universal Design:
The first is Equitable Use – which is design that is useful to people with diverse abilities –
The second is Flexibility in Use – design that accommodates a wide range of individual preferences and abilities
The third, Simple and Intuitive Use, is about design that is easy to understand and use regardless of the user’s experience –
Number four is Perceptible Information and that means design that communicates necessary information effectively –
Number five is Tolerance for Error – which is design that minimizes hazards and adverse consequences of accidental or unintended actions –
The sixth is Low Physical Effort which is about design that can be used efficiently and comfortably and with little fatigue.
The seventh and final principle is Size and Space for Approach and Use – design that provides for approach, reach, manipulation, and use regardless of the user’s individual characteristics.
